Writing and Poetry

I found my Poetry assignment from last year! This was my first draft, so I didn't turn it in.
Now that I read it again, I don't even know what I wrote.

What it says (if you can't read it):

You hold your ground throughout the silence
and wait to hear a voice in the dark,
swishing and swaying
while the levers you pull can only bring what you need;
One sound,
One voice.

and your hope becomes confused for suffering and loss,
falling into a wave of lost dreams and false hopes -
where the endless swaying kills the lost lamb
who gets mistaken for the beast.

And as time keeps track of the life that is taken,
one voice, one sound,
drips and leaks out the fear
little by little
until the life that remains is left;
alone, and untouched.

And now, the calm waters wait for another storm to come.

But here you are
To block the drain.

That is some horribly confusing writing.
